Our StandBy team are excited to launch our enhanced Lived Experience Peer Worker Program, which is designed to provide comprehensive and compassionate support for those navigating the complexities of suicide bereavement. The new peer support offering is structured around lived experience of suicide bereavement, ensuring that individuals receive the appropriate level of support tailored to their unique needs. This model encompasses one on one sessions, small group discussions, large group workshops and community engagement initiatives.
What is peer support in suicide bereavement?
Peer support involves individuals with lived experiences of suicide bereavement offering emotional and practical support to others who are experiencing similar situations. By sharing their own stories and understanding, peer workers can create a safe space for open discussion, validation and mutual support. This approach enhances the sense of connection and understanding, helping to make the support process more relatable and impactful.
By integrating peer support into our StandBy offerings, we aim to strengthen our support network and provide more comprehensive care to those who need it most. Reach out and connect with us today to learn more about how we can support our community together. Services available in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and the Northern Territory via the local StandBy teams on 1300 727 247.
