YouConnect Hub: A Vibrant Space for Young People to Thrive

In a time of rising youth mental health concerns, disconnection and social isolation, the YouConnect Hub is a wonderful example of what’s possible when a community comes together. Thanks to our fundraising efforts and the generous support of our local community, Youturn was able to launch the YouConnect Hub in 2022 – a dedicated, youth-designed space where young people aged 12–25 can feel safe, seen, and supported.

Located at Youturn’s headspace Maroochydore site, the YouConnect Hub delivers group programs thoughtfully designed by young people, for young people. This collaborative approach ensures the YouConnect Hub remains a welcoming, inclusive environment where participants feel comfortable, and accepted to be themselves.

Programs focus on fostering genuine peer connections and complementing mental health care with hands-on, interest-based activities. Whether someone is looking to explore their creativity, learn new coping tools, or socially connect with others, the YouConnect Hub is a safe and positive place to do so.

This school holiday period, the YouConnect Hub is bursting with an exciting schedule of activities that support mental wellbeing and encourage positive connection, including:

  • Crafternoon – Craft, chill, create and chat. Promoting self-exploration and emotional expression through artistic mediums.
  • Mindfulness & Meditation – Silent disco-style yoga + meditation. A safe space to relax, recharge and just be.
  • Footprints Forward – A Monday morning walking group to start your week off. Encouraging mindfulness, relaxation, and mental clarity in a calm, supportive setting.
  • Dungeons & Dragons –Create characters and explore new worlds. A fun, imaginative way to promote teamwork, build social skills, and foster friendships.

The YouConnect Hub will also host movie nights where young people are welcome to invite friends and family. These relaxed, community-focused evenings offer opportunities to bond, laugh, and share meaningful time together.

This vibrant hub exists because of your donations, and we are committed to ensuring that it will continue to thrive thanks to your ongoing generosity. Together, we are creating a space where young people can connect, build resilience, and flourish.
