NAIDOC Week: Our Youturn Teams Celebrating Community and Culture

NAIDOC Week 2025 was a time of celebration, reflection, and connection, bringing together Youturn’s services and local communities to honour the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

With the recent launch of our new Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), Youturn is committed to celebrating culture and creating meaningful conversations that strengthen respect and understanding. Across the regions, each of our teams found their own way to recognise NAIDOC Week, highlighting the richness of culture in their communities.

Our headspace Maroochydore, Bundaberg, Caboolture, and Bribie Island teams took part in local flag raising ceremonies, standing alongside community members in a powerful and symbolic act of recognition.

The Toowoomba YES and Homelessness team, together with headspace Gympie, Bundaberg, Caboolture, Bribie Island, and Youturn Community and Partnerships, joined their communities at NAIDOC Fun Days. These events, filled with cultural activities, performances, and support services, provided an opportunity to celebrate culture, strengthen community connections, and acknowledge the contributions of First Nations peoples.

In Maroochydore, the headspace team attended a NAIDOC Gala Dinner with their Youth Engagement Committee, while our headspace Port Lincoln team proudly sponsored the Emerging Leader Award at the Youth NAIDOC Ball. Both events offered meaningful opportunities to connect with community, celebrate Indigenous excellence, and acknowledge the leadership of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

At Youturn, as we continue our RAP journey, we believe in the importance of coming together to listen, learn, and celebrate. NAIDOC Week is a reminder of our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, and the power of community in creating meaningful partnerships, lasting respect and connection.
