With the uncertainty surrounding when Night Quarter would reopen and the additional COVID protocols and restrictions in place, the difficult decision to postpone our concert was made late yesterday.
“As ambassadors of Youturn Youth Support and hosts of the Youturn It Up concert it is devastating for us that we have had to postpone our event, but we are absolutely thrilled that NightQuarter has been able to work with QLD Health to be able to once again present live music to the Sunny Coast community. We are already working on a new date for the concert, so many have been working so hard to present. Stay tuned!” – Tim & Sam Aitken
Official ambassadors of Youturn, Sam and Tim Aitken of the band Sametime, are two brothers from the Sunny Coast with heaps of musical talent. They came up with the this exciting initiative to support young people in need by staging a series of concerts that could help Youturn raise funds to establish tiny homes.
It’s a great story with a duo of local lads, supporting other kids who are sleeping rough. At the “SameTime” 😊 they are supporting local musicians, helping Youturn get our name out into the community across the Coast and giving local kids an event to look forward to!
Playing together for more than half their lives, Sam and Tim have become a staple in the Sunshine Coast live scene – playing over 300 shows since they were 13 years old, including slots at Bluesfest, the Caloundra Music Festival and a multitude of charity events each year. In 2016, whilst in their tweens, they raised $20,000 for two local families with sick children.
Despite their rising status and signing a long-term deal with publishing giants Sony/ATV, Tim and Sam realise how fortunate they are and are committed to doing more and giving back to their local community. “We did our research and we loved that Youturn is a local, grassroots charity who are focused on supporting young people on the Sunshine Coast. They have a passionate team, who are really dedicated to making a difference to the vulnerable people in their care. As artists and musicians, we hope to use our time and talent to help raise Youturn’s profile and the work they are doing.”
