BOOK A VR SESSION

Life can be full of ups and downs and the reality is that we all know someone who is impacted with mental health concerns.

With the pressure on mental health services, Youturn, has been actively seeking alternative therapeutic solutions to help meet increased demand.

Designed by psychologists and mental health specialists, Youturn invites you to book a free immersive mixed reality session, which can improve mood, wellbeing, and positive future thinking, as well as alleviate thoughts of hopelessness and stimulate a sense of peace and mindfulness.

From Monday, 6 June until end September a VR room will be positioned at Youturn Maroochydore (next to headspace), where anyone can book in for a session.

“Raising awareness about Mental Health is not enough!
We need new, innovative ways of thinking.”
(Prof Jill Bennett)

‘Edge of the Present’ with SeaFM’s BarRat + Juelz

In Australia, there has been a surge of presentations among vulnerable people to emergency departments and youth mental health services are overwhelmed with demand.

With the growing pressure on psychologists, therapists and counsellors, Youturn has actively been seeking solutions to help support vulnerable people and compliment the mental health programs we already offer.

We are really excited to partner with UNSW and Black Dog Institute to participate in ongoing research into mixed reality as a powerful therapeutic tool which enables you to recreate real-life experience within the safety of a physical space.

‘Edge of the Present (EOTP)’ is an immersive virtual reality experience designed as a 7-minute enjoyable public artwork, where users are invited to explore multiple landscapes using mixed-reality software with the aim of improving mood, wellbeing, and positive future thinking in those who take part.

Some people, particularly young men are less likely to seek professional help and find talk therapy confronting – to sit face to face with a stranger in a small room and discuss deeply emotional and personal issues. We believe that the EOTP has enormous potential to help break down barriers for those who are typically more comfortable with technology and gaming.

“Early intervention and prioritising access to mental health support and programs is key! The sooner that people take action to get support for their mental health, the more likely it is to be effective.”
Dr Tanya Bell
