Christmas can be a very special time for some. It can mean a table laden with delicious food, giving and unwrapping gifts and quality time with the people we love.
But unfortunately for many it can be a really stressful and anxious time, and the pressure and expectations can make it just another burden to bear and unaffordable luxury. Imagine having to explain to your children why there might not be a gift for them under the Christmas tree…
Christmas is different for everyone and so are their needs and aspirations. At Youturn we are doing Christmas a little differently this year. We would like to give the gift of dignity and autonomy, we want to listen to what the individual needs are to offer a tailored Christmas – whether that be fuel vouchers to connect with relatives, a relaxing day out with the family to a theme park, a lovely Christmas meal, a customised hamper (aware of dietary needs) or wrapped presents carefully chosen under the Christmas tree.
We all have the ability to make the feeling of Christmas accessible to those who need it. If you want to help a vulnerable young person or family in need, you can choose to support in several ways.
Experiences and gifts will be individually tailored specifically to each young person or family, depending on what they wish for or need this Christmas.
Grocery or food vouchers.
Local attractions.
Helping families connect.
For gifts under the tree.
Vouchers can be emailed to community@youturn.org.au or physical vouchers can be dropped at any of our Youturn offices.
