Over three weeks in March this year, the five White’s IGA stores on the Sunshine Coast ran a very successful instore promotion to raise funds for Youturn’s Tiny Homes initiative, to support young people experiencing homelessness.
Tellers sold our cool, colourful wristbands and stickers in the shape of “little bricks” to support the fundraising efforts explained Youturn’s Marketing, Media & Events Manager Antoinette Lloyd.
“Two dollars bought you a brick which supporters put their name on, and then displayed on the community wall – building a wall of support for tiny homes,” Antoinette Lloyd said.
“The response was amazing and additional wristbands and stickers were requested by all the stores as they ran out of stock!” she said.
The IGA campaign culminated in a successful event at Supa IGA Bli Bli where all staff wore Youturn t-shirts and crazy colourful wigs.
Just outside the store our friends from Maroochy Northshore Lions held a sausage sizzle, our Mambo coffee partners sold rich aromatic Youturn coffees, our Youturn team sold branded merchandise will all proceeds and donations going to our Big Hearts for Tiny Homes.
Our Ambassadors Sam and Tim Aitken, from the band Sametime, performed a few tunes and SeaFM joined us for the morning to do live broadcasts and promote the event
over the radio, interviewing our partners and talking about our upcoming Youturn It Up Concert.
Once the IGA instore promotion came to an end, we were amazed and grateful for the passionate, enthusiastic and wonderful team from White’s IGA, who managed to raise $7,545 over the three weeks for our cause. These guys are Local Legends with a BIG Heart!
