The annual Theatre Rep Fundraiser hosted by St Stephens Church on behalf of Youturn’s Gateway House was limited to 100 persons this year due to Covid making it the hottest ticket in town!
Entrenched in the Toowoomba community calendar, there was a rush for theatre tickets and those who got a seat enjoyed two short plays, written and produced by the local community – making great conversation following the performance!
The theatre night is held in May with the funds then used to purchase goods and supplies during the year such as sleeping bags, Christmas hampers for families and gift vouchers for the young people who are housed at Gateway House.
St Stephens is also extremely generous in supplying hygiene products, winter woolies and anything else the young people housed at Gateway may require from time to time.
In the last year the church supported the purchase of a trampoline during the COVID lockdown and have recently decked out the young people’s rooms with vision boards.
Sue and Bruce Tyson (pictured) from St Stephens regularly drop in with donations to Gateway House and their tireless charitable work across the Toowoomba community was acknowledged with a Uniting Church Moderation Medal. Congratulations Sue and Bruce.
The staff and young people at Gateway House cannot thank St Stephens Church and volunteers such as Sue and Bruce enough for their unwavering support.
