During Mental Health Week in October, Youturn launched a campaign to raise funds for a YouConnect Hub to be based at our headspace Maroochydore centre.   

The Legends 92.7 MixFM including Mark and Caroline enthusiastically jumped onboard to help raise awareness for the importance of mental health across the week and hosted a live broadcast on the Thursday morning where an incredible $48,500 was raised thanks to our generous community on the Sunshine Coast!  We were totally blown away! 

It was such a great morning with the Mix promotions crew joining our Youturn team and we invited supporters, donors and our community to come down for a “Drive by Breakfast” and pay it forward… 

With the theme of Mental Health Week this year focused on Awareness, Belonging and Connection, it was fitting to raise funds for our YouConnect Hub. 

The “YouConnect – Hub” will be for young people who are feeling isolated and looking for opportunities to practice their social skills, learn coping strategies and interact with other like-minded kids who also deal with anxiety, depression or other mental health concerns.  The Hub will berun by qualified youth workers who will apply alternative social prescribing/ psychosocial solutions.   

At the conclusion of 10 weeks, participants will ideally be connected with further support, based on their individual needs. This may include counselling sessions with their local headspace centre, connections with local clubs and organisations to promote social connectivity, or sponsored gym memberships to continue prioritising their own physical and mental wellbeing.
